PTF Program Director Kris Bowman spends May through October visiting polo clubs across North America promoting the growth of polo.  After consulting with a polo club’s owners and manager, Kris uses her expertise and creativity to develop customized solutions to help the club grow their membership, develop camaraderie, and improve quality of play.

Kris has a wealth of practical experience from her years as a polo manager, promoter, and instructor.

She currently manages the Vero Beach Polo & Saddle Club and owns and operates Polo Vacations school during the winter season when she is not busy with her PTF activities.  Kris has been playing competitive polo since 1990 for teams such as Michelob Ultra, Ocean Grill, Mega and most recently, the Shamrock team owned by TV personality John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted.

In addition to her playing experience, Kris’s other activities in polo contribute greatly to her expertise in helping the growth of polo.  She is a past chairman of the USPA Club and Membership Development Committee, currently Co-chair of the Women’s Committee and is one of two women chosen to serve on the USPA strategic planning committee.  She also serves on the USPA Polo Development Initiative Committee that reviews grant applications for the growth of polo through the National Club Development Program.

Kris has been very successful organizing fundraising events.  She organized the original Florida PTF fundraiser now held annually in South Florida, and in 2005 she developed the PTF Wild Game Dinner fundraiser in Aiken, South Carolina.

She has a high success rate for managing and growing polo clubs.  One such entity was bankrupt when she took the reigns.  Four years later, due to her efforts, the club was flourishing with 40 members.  The Vero Beach Polo Club began as a six member club and currently has over 40 polo members.  In addition to her managing expertise, she has started polo schools in five different states across the country, most notably her Polo Vacations polo school which was the official polo school at the Palm Beach Polo Club for eight years.  In February of 2006 two of her students, Jess Downey and Rachael Powlas along with Carlitos Gracida and Juan Obregon won the Avendano, the most prestigious Junior Polo Tournament played in the United States.
